Epirus is a geographical and historical region in southeastern Europe, shared between Greece and Albania. It lies between the Pindus Mountains and the Ionian Sea, stretching from the Bay of Vlorë in the north to the Ambracian Gulf in the south.

The House of Hades, an underground temple dedicated to the god Hades and his wife Persephone, has a mortal side of the Doors of Death which is located somewhere in Epirus.

After a long journey from Rome to Greece, the demigods of the Argo II finally arrive at Epirus, Greece. They then go underground to close the Doors of Death. Once they get back to the surface, Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Leo, Piper, Hazel, Frank, and Nico di Angelo have a picnic on a hill.
