Hi-nehm is an Egyptian Divine Word that is used to join or re-construct broken objects. It can also be used to connect two things such as statues and shadows or pebbles and rocks. It can even be used to bind a sheut to a shabti once it is summoned inside. This spell is opposite and complementary to Ha-di. This spell has been used by Sadie Kane, Walt Stone, Michel Desjardins, Carter Kane and Amos Kane.

The Kane Chronicles[]

The Red Pyramid[]

Uncle Amos explains magic by fixing a broken frying pan using this spell. Later in the book, Sadie uses this to fix the Brooklyn House.

The Serpent's Shadow[]

In this book Walt and Sadie use this spell to bind the sheut to their statues. Sadie also uses this to move a pile of boulders for an exit.

Trivia[]

  • Amos mentions in The Red Pyramid that magicians use Hi-nehm all the time to fix anything they damage by mistake. Due to its magical effectiveness, ordinary mortals never feel that something strange has happened.
