Kansas is a state located in the Midwestern United States.


Kansas gained entry into the union as the thirty-fourth state to gain statehood on January 29, 1861. It was named after the river that flows through it, which in turn was named after the Kansas Native American tribe that inhabited the area. Piper McLean, Percy Jackson, and Jason Grace visit Kansas while going to Topeka, Kansas at milemarker 32.

During Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, and Grover Underwood's quest to return the Master Bolt to Zeus, the trio manage to grab a meal in the dining car of a train while going through Kansas.

Later when the trio are in the Underworld, Grover describes the Fields of Asphodel as being similar to standing in a wheat field in Kansas, forever.
