Kindness International

Percy, Annabeth, and the lion in the truck

Kindness International is an illegal animal smuggling business.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians

The Lightning Thief

After Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood retrieve Ares' shield, he fulfills his promise to arrange the three a free ride to LA. The ride eventually turns out to be a Kindness International truck. The three sneak in the back and notice that the vehicle is used for an animal smuggling business. The truck was carrying an albino lion, a zebra, and an antelope. It is implied that the animals were treated badly, as the food was not placed in the right cages, there was chewing gum in the zebra's mane, and there was a balloon string tied to the antelope's antlers. The zebra then asks for Percy's help (as zebras are close enough to horses, Percy is able to communicate with them) to escape, and Grover talks to the other two animals. This is the first time Percy communicates with a horse and he finds the experience quite strange. Upon arriving to Las Vegas, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover let the animals out, and Grover blesses them with a Satyr's Sanctuary, which allows them to make it safely to the wild.

The Heroes of Olympus

The Mark of Athena

While on board the Argo II, Percy is taken to Annabeth's favorite spot on the ship, which are the stables below deck. When she asks him if they reminded him of anything, he says it looks like the Kindness International truck, but wonders why this is her favorite spot on the ship. Annabeth explains that the truck was the first place where Annabeth and him had really talked to each other personally.

  • The name, Kindness International, along with Humane Animal Transport, is ironic because the employees showed no kindness to the animals, and the transportation is defiently not humane and cruel to the animals
