Leif Erikson was an Icelandic explorer and the captain of the Viking explorers who landed in North America before Christopher Columbus. He was also the son of Skírnir. After his death, he was chosen personally by Odin as one of the einherjar, and became a Thane of Valhalla.
History[]
Leif Erikson was born to Thjodhild and Skírnir in Iceland in 970. During his adult years he would be the first European to set foot on North America when landing on Newfoundland and another location called Vinland.
At one point, he died in battle and became an einherji and eventually a Thane along with his step-father.

On his sixteenth birthday, Magnus Chase looks out the window of his uncle's study and sees a statue of the explorer. Later that day in Hotel Valhalla, he sees him among the Thanes.
