Red gold is the currency of Asgard and Valhalla. It is also widely acceptable in the other realms of the Nine Worlds.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard[]
The Sword of Summer[]
Samirah al-Abbas gives red gold to the frost giant Harald in order for her and Magnus Chase to use his boat to fish in Massachusetts Bay in order to attract the sea goddess, Ran, and says that she'll give him five more to return them to shore.
When Ran appears after Magnus catches Jormungand, Harald has Sam give the five red gold to Ran as an offering to the goddess. After retrieving Sumarbrander, Sam tells Harald that she will give him ten red gold to return her and Magnus to shore (to Midgard, not Jotunheim).
Freya produces tears of red gold before putting them into a leather pouch and gives it to her son, Blitzen, so he can use the tears as payment for Junior to make her earrings.
Appearance[]
As described by Magnus, red gold has a gold surface which glows so warmly that it seems to be on fire.
Trivia[]
