IM POSITIVE THAT THE PIC OF APRODHITE IN THIS PAGE ISN"T AN OFFICIAL ART OF ROCO or anyone affiliated with RIORDAN...

It also contains Very Partial Nudity

You Suck KUPO! 01:57, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

your complaining about nudity? take a look at the galleries some of the minor gods pages like hypnos. Zetelax (talkcontribs) 19:18, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

I don't see anything wrong with it. I think where You Suck KUPO! comes from they aren't used to the westernized form of nudity so to him even a little piece of dark skin that looks like a nipple is offensive to him. I'm not offended by nudity... it's just seems like the picture is not from Mr. Riordan or anyone affiliated with him...in other words, it is a "fanart"(i don't know if i can use that term coz i doubt that whoever drew that's a fan of pj. You get my point? Steamygoreng (talk | contribs) ¡ʞnɔsnoʎ'sıɥʇpɐǝɹnoʎɟı 01:28, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Okay it's just it doesn't seem to be that wrong and if the other admins haven't complained about it i just don't see the point of constantly complaining about it TheGhostMan May the Underworld protect your soul when you enter. 01:29, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Okay... im just weirded out by the idea...

coz i'm also a consistent editor of another wikia and they don't allow fan-arts... NO EXCEPTION.

Steamygoreng (talk | contribs) ¡ʞnɔsnoʎ'sıɥʇpɐǝɹnoʎɟı 01:37, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Well then that's that wikia here they might be a little slack on the no fan art rule for the gods because no one really knows what they look like and Rick Riordan hasn't gotten to ahve anybody make him a picture of that god so we have to make due with what we can find. HEre[]

Here's an idea:

Since the movie is more canon than the fan art, why don't we put film Aphrodite's picture in the infobox SΓΣamyGorengIs that so 05:11, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Because the book art is more canon than the movie art. Darkcloud1111~Fastest Hero Alive 09:36, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Do you know that the previous picture is a fanart and not a "book art" SΓΣamyGorengIs that so 05:28, April 23, 2011 (UTC)

I don't understand what "canon" means??Artemisgirl (talkcontribs) 17:18, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

The dictionary definition of canon is this the works of an author that have been accepted as authentic: So we consider the actual books to be more authentic then the movies. Tick Tock-Feed the Croc 18:07, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Because the author (Rick Riordan) made the books, but didn't make the movie? I think I've got it. Thanks.Artemisgirl (talkcontribs) 18:50, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Well, if the movies follow the plot, unlike the first one did, they can be considered canon. But because the movie barely followed the book, it is completely non canon. User:Connor W. PERCY JACKSON RULES! I met Rick Riordan. Beat that! 05:57, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Not evenerything about the movie is "noncanon." For example, while the movie doesn't really follow the books very well, an image from the movie for a character that we don't have official art for is considered canon. The movies are based off the premise of the books so they are canon and are included on the site, but we do mention which information came from the movies (in the even that the book and movies dont agree). So basically, the books are canon, the movie is canon, the graphic novels are canon, but some things are more canon than others. Darkcloud1111~Fastest Hero Alive 10:33, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Venus[]

It was never mentioned in the books but the Romans worshiped Afprodite as a godess of love beauty and war. Because she was the divine ascestor of the people, a society based on war they also saw her as a war godessMickle1026 (talkcontribs) 20:32, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, the Greeks pretty much slut-shamed Aphrodite. The Romans had quite a bit more respect for her however because she was the lover of Mars, their favorite god. Squall L. (talkcontribs) 04:09, April 21, 2012 (UTC)Squall L.
My point is in the Roman culture she becomes the goddes of millitary victory, Mickle1026 (talkcontribs) 16:58, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

To Tab or not to Tab, That is the Question[]

Ok, so this is like the third time someone has removed the tab, and someone else has put it back. So far Venus hasn't been mentioned within the series, and the tab at the top of the Aphrodite page is a redirect to the Venus section of the Aphrodite page. Considering the tab is just a redirect to the same page, should we keep it around? Darkcloud1111~Fastest Hero Alive 10:46, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

I think we should have the tabs in all the god pages for stylistic reasons. Also, some users might not know the Roman counterpart of every god and goddess so the tabs would help them out. I know that the redirect is a total nuisance, but this way we have the Roman and the Greek counterparts visible to the users.  Hyperborean  Talk  Contribs  Editcount  Blog  Sandbox  11:21,7/12/2012

Offical Portrait[]

The official portrait we obtained (Acorrding to Rick's Blog ) is actually Venus not Aphrodite so should we still use this portrait for Aphrodite? Or can we look the other way again and use the fan art?

On Rick's blog, he calls her Venus but still refers to her a Piper's mother (Aphrodite). However, if you look at the Official Character Page on the HoO site, they call her Aphrodite. So we have Rick talking about her like she is Aphrodite but calling her Venus, and we have the official site calling her Aphrodite. Because Venus hasn't been mentioned, she doesn't have a page and we won't know if Venus or Aphrodite appears in the book until the book is actually released. Until then, we can only assume that the portrait released on the official site is of Aphrodite. If she appears in both Greek/Roman forms, we may end up putting her on both. Darkcloud1111~Fastest Hero Alive 02:38, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
I think it's technically both. When you think about it Aphrodite/Venus appearance is always changing so... SayuriDarling ~ Certain as the sun, rising in the east. 02:42, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
Also, the official Facebook has her picture, but has it listed as "Meet Aphrodite/Venus (she's always changing...)," meaning the way the picture is drawn (with one half one look and the other half a different look), Aphrodite could be constantly shifting between Greek and Roman. Meaning her blond hair could be her Roman form and the brown hair is her Greek form, or vise versa, and the image is of her in mid-transformation, but this is only a guess. And like Sayu said, no one really knows what Aphrodite looks like so she could just be, not limited to the titles of Greek and Roman god, but exists above those titles somehow. Typo[]

I just want to say that there's a typo on here. If you look in The Lost Hero part it was sea form instead of sea foam. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks!

Goddess or Titan?? Was Aphrodite a Titan since she was born of the remains of Ouranos? Or is she a goddess because she is an Olympian? 86.164.226.61 20:18, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
