I am not an American. But from what little I know, President Trump doesn't want to "restore the old ways". When he says that he wants to "Make America Great Again", he wants to "protect the traditional American way of life". Those views are still around in America, just losing popularity. So it is slightly different. Trump could be compared to the Romans at Camp Jupiter.
I believe there are people in the Middle East who really want to restore their old ways of life, like it was more than a thousand years ago.
NOTE: I am not making any moral judgment on these people, or on President Trump, in this answer. Sometimes, old is gold. Sometimes, tradition is not appropriate. It depends on people's discretion.
That's true. But it had its fair share of good as well.
In Rick Riordan's books, it would seem the Titans were absolute tyrants. However, the Greek myths say that the humans of the Golden Age, subjects of the Titans, were happier than the humans under the Olympians. When the Titans reigned, the miseries hadn't been released on the humans yet.
One thing we can say is: as times change, we need to adapt to the change. The traditional way of life would not be as relevant today as it was a few decades ago. It would need to change. Or a new way of life, more in tune with modern times, would be needed.
What im saying is that baby boomers value the myth of the 1950/1960s they value traditional marriage, manufacturing jobs, exclusivity but these values were based on hardships like segregation, toxic marriages, and third world poverty now things are getting better but millenials value them.
