On August 18th, Rick started the Mark of Athena Character Reveal on his Blog! So, like last year, we will get one Character art per week (probably on Saturday) until pub day, October 2nd.
I am going to update this blog weekly with the new pictures so we can discuss them
(AND FANGIRL!) together. So let's sit down and pray that they will all be as epic as Reyna's or Ella's art and not like Nico's.
Update By Darkcloud1111
Ok, so the official site on the Disney website (Link Here) has started to release the character images like they did last year. You can check out the release dates now and see the character outlines. From what I understand, some people know which characters they are already by looking at the source code of the page, so please only supply links or leave spoilers if someone asks, but mark them as spoilers first.
Update by SayuriDarling
Sayuri has already spoiled it
on purpose and because she was annoying by accident and I really don't care to delete it . You just have to look hard enough on the page to find it. Sorry Dark. Also, for this week I will be updating the page since Mena is going on a vacation of sorts.
1st Week: Gleeson HedgeI think this picture is better than many others *cough* Annabeth *cough*, but he still looks a little...weird. Btw, did you notice that he's eating his sandwich AND the aluminum foil?
The local satyr on call, imagine your middle school track coach...if your track coach was half goat.
What does he do? When not eating tacos whole (wrapper and all), or jumping head-first into a fight, this guy is the trusty backup when the demigods get into a scrap.
Noteworthy: He might be on the short side (5 foot zero), but Coach Hedge is a vital sidekick when things get rough. His handy baseball bat is always by his side, and he's not afraid to use it.
Random Picture from Official PJO Facebook
This paragraph has a spoiler for character reveals in it. Read it at your own risk.
This is a picture of Riptide that popped up on Facebook. I think it's from
Hercules picture a picture that will be revealed for The Mark of Athena. Anyway. Here's a clear view of the sword. SayuriDarling ~ Certain as the sun, rising in the east. 02:57, August 22, 2012 (UTC)
Week Two: Nemesis
Done by Dark: And here is her description:
Also known as the goddess of revenge. This is one lady you do NOT want to run into in a dark alley (or anywhere else, for that matter).
What does she do? This woman can shape-shift into any imposing figure you can imagine, if you're her target. Which you don't want to be. Ever.
Noteworthy: Imposing as she is, Nemesis can be bargained with, as demigod Leo will learn... but at what cost?
Week 3: Bacchus
(Done by Hermione Chase) Before anyone is wondering how I know this picture is really Bacchus, check the Heroes of Olympus website. The head of Bacchus matches the picture on the website. --HC (talk|stalk) 20:16, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
The Dark Update: New Description is out.
Also known as Dionysus in Greek form, Bacchus is the ultimate party god. Righteous.
What does he do? Aside from drinking way too much diet soda? It depends on his motivation, which is often lacking. Have you seen the potbelly on this guy?
Noteworthy: He might be a party monster, but don't count Bacchus out. He might come in handy for the demigods down the line...
Week 4: Arachne
Spiders don’t just exist in dusty cabinets...meet Arachne, the mother of all eight-legged creepers. Eek!
What does she do? This former weaver turned super spider is part Black Widow, part human, and completely terrifying.
Noteworthy: Frightening looks aside, Arachne can still construct a mean tapestry. Just don't get caught in her next design...
Week 5: Hercules
RR blog update on him: Meet Hercules. As if you haven't met him plenty of times before. Seriously, you can't get away from this guy if you're reading Greek myths.
So which is it: Hercules or Heracles? Heracles is his Greek name. He's better known by his Roman name Hercules, which is what most people, even Greek demigods, tend to call him. At the end of his life, his dad Zeus made him a minor god, the doorkeeper of Olympus, but if you value your life, don't call him a "minor" god to his face. And also, avoid the topic of that horrible Disney animated movie based on his life. As usual, the movie got NOTHING right. He tends to get a little agitated about that topic, and you'll notice he carries a sizable club.
You will meet Hercules face-to-face in The Mark of Athena. Friend or foe? Oh, boy . . . the demigods aboard the Argo II had better pray he's a friend. Then again, demigod luck is never very good . . .
A legend of his own making, Hercules is the movie star of Greek gods. His movie star charm, however, is a bit lacking.
What does he do? Currently the doorkeeper of Olympus, once the noble figure of epic quests, Hercules has a bit of a complex. Being a "minor" god will do that to a guy.
Noteworthy: Don't underestimate this god. Those who cross him might find themselves faced with an impossible quest of their own...
Week 6: Venus
It seems there are mixed things as to who she is...
From RR: What is Venus up to in The Mark of Athena? She may try to help her daughter Piper and the rest of the demigods, but when Venus helps, it isn't always, well, helpful.
From HoO Site:
Also known as the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite is described as quite the looker. Just ask her...
What does she do? Aside from looking annoyingly perfect ALL the time? Aphrodite has confidence to spare, and her beauty isn't just superficial. This girl knows how to use her looks to get what she wants.
Noteworthy: Aphrodite's appearance, always appealing, can morph at will, so anyone who gazes upon her will see what he or she deems as most attractive. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
